    Items are magazine and news clippings written about a Mason, Texas resident named Gene Zesch.  Mr, Zesch is a nationally recognized artist.  He works in the medium of wood, creating sculpture of people of West Texas.

Zickefoose, Elizabeth

    Items are mostly family scrapbook material with some correspondence, funeral quest sign books, financial records, and two diaries of Elizabeth McKeown Zickefoose.  These materials attempt to give only a small part of Mrs. Zickefoose’s life story.  Mrs. Zickefoose is the daughter of Frank M. McKeown, an armless baseball player.  She was born on May 30, 1925 in Stephenville, Texas and attended Texas Tech in the late 1940s.  For further details, click here:  EZickefoose.

Zimmerman, Fred, III

     This collection has numerous records detailing the family history and farm and ranch activities of the Zimmerman family.  Most are financial records with tax papers, accounting information, soil conservation efforts, legal records concerning mineral rights and estate settlements, weather facts, agriculture records, bank records, land notes and payments, and memorabilia. 
     The Zimmerman family has large land holdings in Floyd, Foard, Deaf Smith, and Oldham counties.  They are related to William Holmes Dougherty of Gainesville, Texas and the Dougherty family of Floydada, Texas.  Fred Zimmerman III and his wife Pat Garris have kept their family tradition of maintaining their personal and business records for future generations.  In these files, Fredís father and grandfather are referred to as Fred Jr. and Fred Sr., respectively.


Zollner, Matthew

    Includes correspondence, financial documents, newspaper clippings, photographs, and scrapbook material related to Zollner's involvement in ranching and the Baptist Church.
    Zollner was a farmer and son of Massy Zollner, a Prussian immigrant, who began the Zollner Ranch in 1876. The ranch hired primarily transient workers of various occupations. The ranch was operated by the family for several generations and, in 1976, received a Texas Family Heritage Award for 100 years of continuous operation.

Zyla, Wolodymyr T.
Papers, 1966-1970

    Includes reprints of articles concerning onomastic sciences, the origins of personal names and proper noun names.
Zyla was a professor of Germanic and Slavic languages at Texas Tech University (1963-1968). Zyla was also the chairperson of the International Committee on Comparative Literature and editor of Dada Surrealism.
