Equipment and FacilitiesThe Oral History Program uses state of the art equipment to ensure that materials of the highest quality are submitted for archival storage. For audio interviews, digital minidisk recorders are used along with standard audiocassette recorders. A Super VHS video camera provides for quality video interviews. Photographs may be donated to the archives or loaned for copying. Photograph copies are made at the Health Sciences Center photo lab on campus. If copies must be made in the field, we use digital scanners or photograph images with a digital camera or Canon EOS Elan II E camera mounted on a photo stand. The Special Collections Library consist of 79,000 square feet of climate controlled space. The building was designed to ensure stable temperature and humidity control, UV protection, positive ventilation flow for a dust free environment, fire prevention and security. It is equipped with three cold storage vaults for the preservation of tapes, microfilm and rare materials. The Hoblitzelle Conservation lab is located within the building to address any preservation problems that might arise. |
