                                               VISIONS OF THE AMERICAN WEST:
THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF BARBARA VAN CLEVE

Raised on a ranch north of Yellowstone National Park on land her great grandfather homesteaded in 1880, photographer Barbara Van Cleve now lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  A native of the West, the artist depicts in her work the vestiges of a bygone era.  Well known for her images featuring cowboys and ranchers in the American outback,
her latest work, Hard Twist, is a study of women in the American West.

Van Cleve's work has garnered accolades and awards across the country including: Inductee, National Cowgirl Hall of Fame; Chicago Film Festival; Chicago Corporate Design Program; and the Coors Western Art Foundation Mary Ellen Grant Award.
Van Cleve was also the special still photographer for Robert Redford's film, The Horse Whisperer, in 1997.
