Vibrant color is the hallmark of Santa Fe fiber artist, Helenn Rumpel, whose work of creative stitchery has earned her national and international recognition.
The artist was given the Governor's Award in 1990 as an Outstanding New Mexico Woman in Art, and was featured in the videos "Land of the Dancing Sun" and "Colores." Her pieces have been written about in many journals and newspapers and she has exhibited in numerous venues, including the Chicago Institute of Art, the U. S. Embassy in Moscow, and the Oklahoma Museum of Art.
In 1991, the artist began archiving her papers and
selected pieces of artwork with the Southwest Collection/Special
Collections Library.
