A
primary objective of the Exhibits and Outreach
Team is to forge cooperative, interdisciplinary partnerships on campus,
and with the local and regional community. To that end, Exhibits &
Outreach continues to organize and participate in symposia, gallery
showings, receptions, special
events, lectures, meetings, dedications and other
events to further the mission of the Southwest Collection/Special
Collections Library.
Exhibits &
Outreach strives to inform the public
about the holdings and activities of the Southwest Collection/Special
Collections Library. The unit publishes a bi-annual newsletter, the
Southwest Chronicle, and an assortment of public information fliers
and brochures focusing on the various components and initiatives of the
Archive. Exhibits
& Outreach provides free tours of our facility on the campus of Texas
Tech University, and offers public presentations about the Archive’s
many projects and available research opportunities.
The Exhibits
& Outreach team also offers traveling history trunks to teachers and
organizations on the Texas High Plains. The trunks are designed for 4th
and 7th grade classrooms, but are appropriate for a variety of
audiences. The trunks contain a number of hands-on historical materials
depicting life on the
late 19th century and early 20th century Llano Estacado. |
