Collecting the accounts of
World War II veterans is important because of the significant impact of that conflict on
the twentieth century and because of the advancing age of the generation involved. The
Southwest Collection recently arranged to serve as the repository for the state wide
chapter records of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. The field staff is also collecting
numerous interviews and manuscript collections from members of the organization. Other
veterans groups as well as men and women affected by the war at home and abroad are
encouraged to provide their accounts so that we may broadly document this important period
in history.
