On September 20, 1958, the Red Raiders of Texas Tech University played the Aggies of Texas A&M in an away game in Dallas, Texas. Though Tech still played in the
Border conference it was already on its way into the Southwest Conference and had played A&M numerous times. Though Tech trailed 14-0 at the half the Red Raiders
fought their way back to a 15-14 lead. Tech's All-American linebacker, E. J. Holub, blocked an Aggie field goal with two minutes to go to guarantee the Tech victory.
